Payment Policy:
All patients remain fully liable for payment of their accounts.
Discovery, Bankmed & Discovery Administered Med Aid Patients:
We accept the higher Discovery, Bankmed & some Discovery administered medical aid plans for the following procedures only: consults, normal cleanings and x-rays provided that the patient has benefits available for these procedures on the day and provided that no other procedures are carried out on the same day as per the medical aid rule. We do not accept the Discovery smart plan.
All other procedures will kindly need to be paid upfront and claimed back by the patient from their medical aid. If we cannot confirm funds on the day of treatment, the patient shall be required to pay for the procedure upfront and to cleam back from their medical aid. Blubird Dental is in no way responsible for the amount that the medical aid compensates its members for procedures carried out and the patient must expect that shortfalls from their medical aid may exist.
Should the patient wish to do their consult, cleaning and/or dental x-ray along with other dental procedures in one appointment, the patient will be required to pay for all the procedures carried out upfront and claim back from their medical aid as per the medical aid time rule.
As a courtesy to our patients, we confirm Discovery and Bankmed medical aid benefits for patients for consults, cleanings and x-rays only. Confirmation of benefits is not a guarantee of full payment from the medical aid and it remains the patient's responsibility to settle their bill if the medical aid does not pay in full.
We strictly do not accept smart plans, hospital plans or plans which do not cover the procedure in full. These patients will be required to pay for the procedure done upfront and claim back from their medical aid thereafter. If we cannot confirm funds on the day, the patient will be treated as a cash patient.
It is the patient's responsibility to enquire about treatment prices prior to receiving treatment and to request a quote from Blubird Dental if the patient wants to first check to see what their medical aid will cover. Once treatment is carried out, the patient will be fully liable for payment. All payments must be settled in full on the day of treatment by cash or card. No EFT's or cheques are accepted. Any late payments carry an interest charge. Any accounts not settled within 10 days regretfully will be handed over for debt collection and the person responsible for payment will be held liable for all extra costs incurred.
Kindly note that procedures involving the dental lab (eg. crowns, bridges, biteplates, dentures, implants etc.) will carry two separate charges: A dental charge and a lab charge. Blubird Dental is completely independent of its labs and the patient will be billed by both Blubird Dental and the lab separately. No lab work will be released until the dental bill and lab bill are both settled in full. The patient shall need to handle any lab queries directly with the lab involved as the lab functions as a completely independent entity to Blubird Dental and the patient is required to sign an agreement directly with the lab.
Cash Patients & Patients on all Other Medical Aids:
Patients on all other medical aids except Discovery & Bankmed will be treated as cash patients for all procedures and will be required to pay upfront and claim back from their medical aids. Blubird Dental is in no way responsible for the amount that the medical aid compensates its members for procedures carried out and the patient must expect that shortfalls from their medical aid may exist.

Code of Conduct:
This practice reserves the right of admission. Patients are required to follow all covid protocols. Patients are required to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times.
Late Arrivals and Missed Appointments:
Patients are requested to please be on time for their appointments. Any cancellations must please be done 24hrs in advance to avoid charges. Failure to cancel an appointment will result in a R450 charge and the patient will be required to pay a deposit of R450 via EFT in order to secure another appointment at Blubird Dental. Kindly inform us if you are running late. If a patient is more than 15 minutes late, treatment may be reshedueled and the next patient will be attended to.

While we always aim to run the appointments on time and forewarn our next patient of delays or cancellations to their appointments, in certain emergency situations or instances where power or water is suddenly lost or our machines breakdown, your appointment may need to be cancelled, delayed or rescheduled on short notice. We apologise in advance for any such mishaps and we reserve the right to cancel appointments without prior notification.
